Objectives
- direct growth of aligned carbon nano-tubes (CNT) with very high aspect ratios on electrode surfaces: unique combination of properties, e.g. high specific conductivity + high ion mobility
- candidate material for use in super-capacitors with high power density
- main aim of the project: cost-efficient mass production for strongly expanding markets, e.g. as energy storage systems for electric cars
Main deliverables
- equipment demonstrator; scalable processes for
- continuous depositions of catalyst layer
- continuous growth of aligned CNTs on electrodes
- application demonstrator
- CNT based supercap test cells for high power density
- performance gain demonstration; e.g. power density, cycleability
