Infection control
|
|
Objectives
- biocidal surface structures with multi-action approaches for control of infection - clear potential for 3D nano-structures & need for new manufacturing approaches
- combination of biocidal surface structures with 3D nano-structures will immobilise and deactivate pathogenic organisms
- widespread applications with potentially wide and significant commercial and societal benefits
- medical related areas (hospital environments)
- hygiene in areas with high visitor traffic
- food handling
Main deliverables
- biocidal 3D nano-composites
- equipment demonstrator for continuous coating of test panels; DBD-CVD based
- materials demonstrator: proven biocidal activity against test strains; extension to selected pathogens (MRSE); active life = 5 years
- application demonstrator to confirm activity in real life application areas (hospital, sanitary)
- testing: development of “real life” test procedures
